5 Independent Restaurants/Cafés in Canterbury

There are so many delicious eateries to explore in a Canterbury. But these five have to be my absolute favourites.

1. The Naughty Egg

Naughty Egg has to be my FAVOURITE independent café/restaurant in Canterbury. Their food is amazing, but they also have the best dish names such as: The Naughty Egg (Cage-free egg, mature cheddar, caramelised onions & sriracha mayo), The Egg Sheeran (Cage free egg, red leicester, chipotle & lettuce) and Basic Bitch Burger. Are you Vegan or vegetarian? Don’t fear, they also have a vegan and vegetarian menu. My boyf is a big fan of their loaded fries, particularly the Crispy Duck Fries. Check them out on Instagram to see their tasty treats in action!

2. Tiny Tim’s Tearoom

If you’ve been to Canterbury before then you will have probably seen Tiny Tim’s Tearoom from a mile off, due to the queue that always seems to be forming right outside! The quintessential tea room offers the most delicious cakes, cream teas and breakfasts. My favourites are the Lemon Drizzle Cake and the Victoria Sponge Cake!

3. Oscar & Bentleys

This British Bistro is the perfect place for both hearty meals and light snacks. Tucked away on a side street, Oscar and Bentleys also prides themselves on being 100% Gluten Free – which is no small feat. They also offer a dairy-free menu! My top picks are the Sweet Potato Hash or the Dirty Burger!

4. Chapter

Did someone say Sourdough Pizzas? Chapter’s pizzas are topped with the finest Italian ingredients, they also do a delicious range of cocktails! My top picks are the Fiorentina and the Zucca. Follow their Instagram for behind the scenes and mouthwatering pizza videos!

5. Canteen

Located smack next to the Cathedral, Canteen is the best place for a lunchtime snack. They do flatbreads, burritos, jacket potatoes and toasties! My favourites are the Roasted Veg Flatbread and the Halloumi Toastie! Follow them on Instagram to join them on their journey.
