8 Fun Things To Do in Vienna

As you may have seen from my Instagram feed on the first week of September I went on a Srprs.Me trip to Vienna for a couple of days. It was really fun and as the trip was a surprise it meant that we could not plan ahead, which was actually really fun!

1. Visit Prater Funfair

There are so many things to do at Prater. The vintage funfair has some bizarre and mad rides! Look out for the Train Carriage Ferris Wheel! Find out more about Prater here.

2. Eat Sachertorte or Apple Strudel

When you visit Vienna, you must try the cakes! No excuses. The Sachertorte was the most pristine cake I’ve ever seen.

3. Visit Schönbrunn Palace & Zoo

Schönbrunn Palace & Zoo has to be visited! A beautiful palace with beautiful surrounding gardens, maizes, fountains and architecture. A true feast for the eyes. They even have a zoo, which has: Pandas, Hippos, Polar Bears and lots of Penguins!

4. Visit the Butterfly House

A lovely place to visit, albeit bloody hot! Some really lovely plants and butterflies in a big, beautiful greenhouse.

5. Visit the Museumsquartier

There are a tonne of museums to visit in Vienna, so if you’re only there for a limited time be make sure to pick and choose. We really like Modern Art so we opted to visit Mumok, which did not disappoint. The Mumok gift shop was a real life Aladdin’s Cafe!

6. Visit the Danube

A tonne of bars/eateries, ice cream shops and a mini beach! What more could you want? Look over the Danube whilst sipping a huge Gin & Tonic. We also saw some adorable boats that you could rent out.

7. Eat Burgers at Rinderwahn

One of my favourite meals of the holiday. Rinderwahn didn’t disappoint! Delicious burgers, fries and milkshakes.

8. Visit Hofburg Palace

Vienna’s Imperial Palace is one of the biggest palace complexes in the world. The oldest parts date to the 13th century!
