Kent has so much to offer when it comes to seaside towns, I’ve visited Deal a number of times to go for afternoon teas at The Lane, but this time I decided to explore Deal a little bit more! See my top things to do in Deal:
Things to see
The town is full to the brim with typography delights and quintessential English buildings. Take a walk around Middle Street to see some real beauties! Walking along the sea wall and brutalist pier is another must do.
Places to eat
So as previously mentioned, The Lane is without a doubt my favourite eatery in Deal! I’ve been for two afternoon teas, which were PHENOMENAL. Let me paint a scene for you, scones, edible cheese straw spoons, risotto balls and blueberry cupcakes and so much more! They also offer up a tasty breakfast, lunch and dinner menu.
I’ve also had the delight of visiting The Rose, if you keep up with Kent news, you’ll have seen the transformation of this derelict pub into a beautiful modern hotel, restaurant and bar a couple of years ago. We went for ‘The Rose Classics’ mac n cheese (bloody gorgeous) and ‘The Rose Burger’ – some of the cocktails also sounded gorgeous.
I’ve also heard good things about 81 Beach Street, Hog & Bean and Pop Up Cafe.
Places to shop
I love independent shops and Deal has a tonne of them! Start with the Hoxton Store, a beautifully curated shop, full to the brim of things you never knew you needed (I definitely did not leave with a feather duster – it’s a present, I swear!).
It is also worth checking out the Saturday market, which sells fruit, veg, tulips and retro flea market items. A real treasure trove of unique things!
